This fun course is designed for anyone who wants to improve their travel photography. Maybe you have a digital SLR and are planning a big trip, you want to go beyond typical holiday snaps and instead bring back great photographs of your travels. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned enthusiast you will find a lot of great tips and techniques.

Course Outline |
Saturday 9.00 We begin fairly early today to take advantage of the morning light. I will guide you through some basic functions of the camera including exposure modes and metering. There will also be a quick overview of what we will being doing during the photography workshop (Meet West Circular Quay). 9.30 We begin the classroom sessions. Travel photography basics; equipment to take on your trip(and what to leave behind); Digital cameras, lenses, tripods, useful accessories. Exposure explained with examples shown. How to choose exposure modes. Metering including Spot and Evaluative. Using exposure compensation. Understanding Histograms. All about RAW. 11.00 We take a refreshment break then we turn to the more creative side of travel photography. Composition, lighting and timing. Learn how to produce high quality travel photography rather than just holiday snaps. 13.00 A light lunch is served. Another chance to chat about travel photography (or meet back after lunch if you prefer). 14.00 Digital Cameras and the Computer; Using RAW files. Optimising Colour & Exposure. Resizing Digital Photographs. Understanding resolution, Bit-Depth and Dynamic Range. Time for more Questions & Answers. You may also like to bring in some of your photographs for me to comment on and offer tips. 16.00 End Day 1
Sunday 12.00 We meet at Hyde Park. You will practice freezing and blurring subjects by setting Shutter Speeds. Learn how to throw backgrounds out of focus by controlling Depth of Field. Outdoor portraiture will be discussed and the use of Fill-Flash and reflectors will be demonstrated. There will be tips on Architectural Photography using the exterior of St Mary's Cathedral. Then onto the Botanical Gardens to do some Close-Up photography. 14.30 We will take a break for a light afternoon tea. 15.00 We look at perspective, composition and lighting as we take advantage of lengthening shadows lengthen. We Experiment with higher ISO as light levels drop. You will learn new techniques for sharper images. 18.00 The Travel Photography Weekend Workshop draws to a finish and we say I goodbyes.
Duration: 12 Hours total <Make Booking> In case of Bad Weather; Day Two may be postponed if weather conditions are unsuitable. In which case day 2 will take place the following weekend. What to bring for the workshop; *Suitable non-SLR cameras include; Canon G9, Leica D-Lux 3, Panasonic CX2. (If you are not sure if you camera is appropriate please email with the model number). Please wear comfortable shoes as we will be doing some walking and clothes that you can kneel down in. Also please have something warm with you to wear for the "Night Photography" session. Light refreshments are included both days. Please advise in advance if you have any special dietary requirements. Next Workshop Sat 27th & Sun 28th of February
